Carol Arnold grew up in the Midlands of England and gained a Fine Art degree at Newport College of Art and Design in S. Wales and an Art Teacher’s diploma in Liverpool.

Through various twists of fate she found herself, in 1973, not teaching art, but practicing the ancient craft of scrimshaw on the idyllic island of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

In 1976 she moved to Nova Scotia briefly, then San Francisco, and finally took the plunge and moved to New York City.

After working at various jobs, including illustration and loft renovation, she started working with a successful jewelry designer. Not only did she learn jewelry-making techniques, but she also assisted in accessorizing fashion shows and magazine shoots. Eventually she designed her own line of jewelry.

In 1982 Carol met her husband Paul Stratigos, then a painter and bartender, now the candle maker at the Artisans’ Guild. They decided to leave NYC and seek the quiet life. They did not find it in Key West, so moved to Stamford, NY in 1985 where they live and work today with daughter, Emma.

The simple classic designs of Carol Arnold’s jewelry are suitable for both every-day wear and special occasions. They add elegance to a simple black outfit or dress up a pair of jeans and t-shirt. The heavy gauge sterling and pure silver is hand wrought and silver soldered at every joint. It is jewelry that is made to last and designed to move with the body for comfort.
