This month’s artist is:

Larry Mirarchi

Larry Mirarchi grew up in Brooklyn, became enamored of upstate New York, and settled in Oneonta. In addition to having taught chemistry at Hartwick College, he has pursued a life-long interest in photography. Larry has been especially fascinated with the local landscape, where he finds personal meanings and metaphors in its endless variety and transformations.

At Brooklyn Technical High School Larry majored in Industrial Design, where he gained experience in a variety of graphic media. Although he has extensive experience in traditional darkroom techniques, he now works exclusively with digital processing, where he can apply his darkroom skills with even greater control and precision. Larry’s photos have been shown at local banks and at the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts (UCCCA, now CONA), and the Cooperstown Art Association (CAA) galleries. Two of his photos were recently shown at a juried regional and a juried national show, also at CAA. His autumnal “View from Oyaron” was made into the first UCCCA Arts Festival poster and a winter scene of the Audubon Sanctuary was made into a postcard for the Delaware Otsego Audubon Society.
